Winter Outdoor Workout Essentials for Strollers

Winter is here and we all know that Atlanta weather is pretty inconsistent - some days 40 feels like 60, and other days 40 feels like 20.. Here are our best tips to get you and your little one ready for an outdoor stroller workout:

  1. Hat & Gloves: Body heat escapes through our extremities, so the best tip for both mom and little ones are to wear a hat and gloves/mittens. You can easily shed them as you start to warm up, but a hat is a must to get going! For babies and toddlers, try mittens (or even better - jackets or bunting with mittens) to save yourself the frustration of gloves, and a hat with Velcro or a tie under chin so it can't be pulled off easily by curious hands.

  2. Blankets or Stroller Muff: Have a spare blanket that stays in your car that you can put over your little one(s) legs during the stroller during class. Stroller muffs come in all sizes and are very adaptable to fitting different stroller types.

  3. Sun Protection. Even though it’s cold don’t forget to protect your skin with sunscreen and sunglasses for those bright but brisk days.

  4. Layers. As we get moving you will warm up and you'll want the option to remove/add layers. Wear sweat-wicking layers as a base layer and add layers from there. We like: a tank, long sleeve shirt, sweatshirt/jacket, down vest, and of course leggings! Consider fleece-lined leggings if you really feel the cold. Higher socks (wool/cotton) are great to protect your ankles and keep your feet extra warm. For littles, we recommend PJS under jackets or bunting - there's something extra cozy about going to class in PJs with a warm blanket and hat!

  5. Stay hydrated! In winter we are prone to get dehydrated quickly with heat running. When we sweat less because its not as hot out - we also easily forget to rehydrate.

  6. Lotion and lip balm: Our favorite hand lotion is by O'Keefe's. It's a game changer for chapped winter hands. Vaseline, lip balm, or coconut oil are our favorites for chapped lips before, after, and who are we kidding - sometimes during class!

Pack up these essentials and come join us for a class. Our stroller classes are held outdoors, but in the event of a feels-like temperature of 40 degrees (or lower) we move to an indoor location.
