Recipe: Turmeric Latte

Did you know turmeric has health benefits? This spice could be one of the most effective nutritional supplements in existence. It's a natural anti-inflammatory, can increase the antioxidant capacity of the body, and can boost brain-derived neurotrophic factor. (BDNF), which plays a role in memory and learning.

Here is a great way to add in more of this powerful spice during the cold winter days: a turmeric latte!

Makes 2 Servings

INGREDIENTS

  • 3 cups milk of your choice
  • 1 1/2 tsp ground turmeric
  • 1 pinch black pepper (pepper is always a must when using turmeric - it helps activate the spice!)
  • 1/4 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 tsp ground ginger
  • 1 TBS sweetener of your choice (we recommend honey or maple syrup)
  • Ground cinnamon for garnish

DIRECTIONS

  1. Heat the milk in a pot on the stove over medium-low heat.
  2. Add turmeric, pepper, cinnamon, ginger and sweetener. Whisk to combine.
  3. Continue to heat and whisk just until the milk reaches a boil.
  4. Pour and top with a pinch of cinnamon.
