Atlanta Kids Birthday Party Planning Ideas from Confetti Jar

Being a new mom is hard enough; but trying to plan birthday parties while juggling kiddos is even harder. There are so many options around north Atlanta; it can be hard to know what to choose! Plus, when needing multiple vendors for the venue, balloons, cake, and more – birthday party planning can be even more time consuming. But we all want to celebrate those memorable milestones with our little ones!

That is why local mom of three, and FIT4MOM veteran, Jessica Vicars, started Confetti Jar. Confetti Jar is a resource for Atlanta area parents to find new ideas and everything they need to plan parties for kids. Through their website and Instagram page, Confetti Jar shares venues, party places, bakeries, entertainment, party planners, and more! Plus, the Confetti Jar marketplace is launching in 2024, giving parents the easiest resource for finding and booking birthday parties for kids.

Here are 5 ideas to consider when planning kids’ birthday parties around Atlanta:

1. First birthday parties are such a special way to celebrate your little one! We all love the super cute smash cake photos, but the celebration gets expensive when ordering multiple cakes. Consider purchasing a custom cake from a local bakery and a less expensive smash cake from a grocery store like Publix - and add a cake topper.

2. For little ones, consider how they will stay busy throughout the duration of the party. To enjoy the event yourself and allow your friends to socialize while the kids play, it’s helpful to have multiple activities for toddler and preschool children. Consider having multiple stations such as soft play rentals, a coloring station, bubble station, costume station, crown making station, and more. That way, children can rotate through multiple activities.

3. If you are hosting your event at a location other than your home, chat with the party coordinator about food and beverage options and be sure you are in the know about what they will be providing. Many party locations offer décor, plates & napkins, table covers, and drinks such as water or lemonade in their basic packages. Often, upgraded options offer more all-inclusive packages with food and balloon garlands. Some venues do have restrictions regarding food and beverages allowed in their facility so be sure so check on these details before planning.

4. Keep the food simple. Kids love pizza, chicken tenders, fruit, and snacks. Events are easier for you and parents in attendance when kids are excited to dig in! A charcuterieboard with kid-friendly options also works well – ham, pepperoni, fruit, cheese slices. Always ensure snacks are handy to grab because most of the partygoers will want to snack on something before you serve meals (don’t kids always want a snack?!)

5. For desserts, consider a variety of options. Kids love to see not only cake, but get excited about the novelty of cake pops, donuts, macaroons, and other treats. You can get a smaller cake and add a variety of other treats to make the dessert table super fun.
