FIT4MOM Atlanta Weekend Roundup April 13 - 14

So, there are a ton of things going on this weekend in Atlanta: the iconic Atlanta Dogwood Festival ITP, the Big Shanty Festival out in Kennesaw, Cherry Street Beer & Family Festival to the Northeast in Cumming. Not to mention, all the Easter Egg Hunts throughout the city. There is sure to be something to get into.

Our FIT4MOM Family is going camping together…we’re not just an exercise crew, we’re “family” and its great to get together and watch our little ones explore in the dirt and camp under the stars.

Atlanta Fair @ Turner Field Gray Lot – Atlanta (all ages) Friday, Saturday, Sunday’s only urban fair; bringing rides, games, fair foods, and entertainment.

Miss Atlanta Fair Pageant – Atlanta (all ages) Sunday Divisions: 0-11 months, 12-18 months, 19-23 months, 2-3 years, 4-5 years, 6-7 year,8-9 years, 10-12 years, 13-15years, 16 and up. Boys divisions added with participation. Beauty Competition: Contestants will compete in Easter attire only. One winner per age division will receive the title of Miss Atlanta Fair. All contestants will receive a Miss Georgia princess award.

Weekend Family Tours @ The High Museum of Art – Atlanta (all ages) FREE with admission Saturday & Sunday guided family tour for all ages.

Atlanta Grilled Cheese Festival @ Atlantic Station – Atlanta (all ages) See Site for FEE Saturday #NationalGrilledCheeseDay this year with restaurants from all over Atlanta serving up bites of melty, cheesy goodness for your tasting pleasure.

83rdAnnual Dogwood Festival @ Piedmont Park – Atlanta (all ages) FREE Friday, Saturday, Sunday Attendees can peruse the Artist Market, catch music from up-and-coming bands, see international entertainment and partake in festival fare and midway rides.

Decatur Farmers Market (Opening Day) – Decatur (all ages) Saturday farmers market with all your weekly staples and your favorite regular market vendors.

Northeast Atlanta

Peachtree Road Farmers Market – Buckhead (all ages) Saturday Local farmers market with all your weekly staples and your favorite regular market vendors. Special guests this week: turkey, a pony, and goats.

Barbeque Nation @ Atlanta History Center – Buckhead (all ages) Friday, Saturday, & Sunday traveling exhibition including a wide array of artifacts, images, and oral histories of barbeque.

Candytopia – Buckhead (all ages) Friday, Saturday, & Sunday interactive art exhibition made of CANDY!!! Six rooms of amazing artwork made entirely of candy along with other surprises, including a “marshmallow” pit! Photo opportunities at every turn.

Heritage Springs Farmers Market – Sandy Springs (all ages) Saturday farmers market with all your weekly staples and your favorite regular market vendors.

Easter Egg Hunt @ Sandy Springs United Methodist – Sandy Springs (all ages) Sunday your own basket and meet on the front lawn of the church for the egg hunt with prize bags, petting zoo, hot dogs and sweet treats, crafts, games, and more! This event is free and open to all!

EcoTinker Exhibit @ Chattahoochee Nature Center – Roswell (all ages) Friday, Saturday, and Sunday outdoors this spring for nature-inspired tech and tinker stations – 5 stations where you can experiment and explore. Our exhibit stations focus on the science of water – how it moves, how it is used – there’s plenty to play with while you learn at our STEM stations. Expand your creative mind and your vocabulary when you visit ECO TINKER!

Vickery Village Farmers Market – Cumming (all ages) Saturday farmers market with all your weekly staples and your favorite regular market vendors.

Cherry Street Spring Beer and Family Festival – Cumming (all ages)Saturday Festival is a Fundraiser for Humane Society of Forsyth and will include Live Music all day by Frankly Scarlet & Honeywood Music, Arts/Crafts Vendors, Kids Activities, 40 Cherry Street Beers and 30 Guest Beers, and a heck of a good time!

6thAnnual Duluth Rotary Car Show – Duluth (all ages) SaturdayFREE Classics, Foreign Sports, Hot Rods, Muscles, and Pickups are the featured cars of the event. Enjoy music, a raffle, and food.

Repticon Atlanta @ Gwinnett County Fairgrounds – Lawrenceville (all ages)Saturday out thousands of creepy-crawlies, including reptiles, amphibians, invertebrates, spiders and small exotic animals at this reptile show.

Kites over Dekalb @ Wade Walker County Park – Stone Mountain (all ages) Saturday commemorate National Kite Month, this free family event is open for all ages and levels to attend. We will feature kite flying demonstrations, competitions, music, food vendors and more for all to enjoy. And because it is Organ Donor Awareness Month we will have some screenings and information. Participants may bring their own kites or create one at the free kite making station while supplies last.

Northwest Atlanta

Big Shanty Festival – Kennesaw (all ages) Friday, Saturday, Sunday Kennesaw’s annual Superior Plumbing Big Shanty Festival is one of the community’s largest and most popular events, as well as one of KBA’s primary sources for giving back to Kennesaw’s schools and non-profit organizations. Each year, over 70,000 attendees attend this festival and enjoy a variety of food, live entertainment, and local vendors.

Cobb PARKS Spring EGGstravaganza @ Al Bishop Park – Marietta (all ages) Saturday FREE us for an evening featuring the Easter Bunny, egg hunts, games, food, inflatables, raffles, activities, entertainment, fun, and much more!

Holly Springs Easter Egg Hunt @ Barrett Park – Holly Springs (ages 0 - 12) Saturday FREE 15,000 Easter Eggs hidden as well as a big petting zoo, spin art, balloon animals, face painting, popcorn provided by and complimentary pictures with the Easter Bunny!

Cookies & Canvases Toddler Session @ Ike Owings Community Center – Douglasville (ages 15 mo – 3 years) $17/person a SPRING in your step with this lovely creative adventure! Toddlers will get to discover the amazing art of de·cou·page, the art or craft of decorating objects with paper cut-outs! With the help of the magical elixir called Mod-Podge we will craft sweet mini birdhouses to display in your home for years to come! If you have a small family photo to put on the mini birdhouse you are more than welcome to bring it and we can add it on! We will also be painting some terra cotta pots for you to use to plant beautiful spring flowers in! Let your green thumb (red, blue, pink, purple, lol) shine in this activity! Handprints, flowers, birds, whatever your toddler desires can be painted on the outside of this garden staple! You even get a starter seed pack!
